Technical writing is simply a means of communication; it is the art of writing to provide more easy and detailed-oriented instructions to help your audience understand how a process works.
“Confusing right???…. Yeah, I was more than confused too…To me then, Technical writing is just anything writing and monetizing your writing. But seriously I was wrong. If what I thought was right, I should have been on the track before now”.
For the best understanding, Technical writing is simply writing for a reason or purpose. Now, the main purpose of Technical writing is to make complex concepts concise and easier to understand for a particular audience.
“Reasonable enough right???… At this point, I was getting the message and I hope you also. My first confusion was cleared…Technical writing is very far from what I thought it was”.
Again, Technical writing is any document that communicates Technical information for the purpose of easy understanding and assimilation by the readers.
Note: If the piece of work is not communicating Technical information, then it is not Technical Writing. This means Technical writing MUST be conveying Technical information only.
A Practical Example of Technical Writing: Have you ever seen a user manual or guide on Laptops before????? Have you tried reading through the guide???? majority do not bother going through the user manual. That user manual provides Technical information on how to run the laptop.
Another example: Have you ever come across a user manual for a smartphone???? That particular piece of writing is Technical writing. It explains how to set up the smartphone, how to use its features and troubleshoot common problems.
“I'm getting there, I said to myself, after knowing the meaning of this Technical writing and still hoping for the best”.
